Everything in moderation.

I enjoy this one. First: What's moderation? Definition please?

By way of example, would you consider eating one package of Peanut M&M's per week moderation? If so, that equates to 24,000 calories annually. 24,000 divided 3,500 (a pound of fat) equals 7-pounds per year. Now add to that all the other things that you do in moderation. Oops, that's a lot of weight.

The error in your reasoning is that you fail to acknowledge that including that caloric dose from candy may also displace the calories from something else that might have been eaten.
And, that allowing yourself sweets (and everything else) in moderation, decreases preoccupation with what you "can't" have, which may result in binge eating.

Lori,

I would love to agree with you, but alas, I can't.

Certainly, people can indulge once in a while, however, if you are eating incredibly tasty foods that have health benefits (and there are thousands), the desire for junk food is significantly diminished.

Please post the research form peer reviewed journals. I'd love to see your references. Just last month yet another article was published on managing weight with inclusion of your so called "junk food".

Lori,

The information above is based on this formula: S + T = PWL

Thanks for the thoughtful correspondence.

    That's a Bunch
    of B.S.

For many people, losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle is difficult. Much of the advice is a misdirection and a bunch of B.S.

This blog has been set up to dispel the misinformation and myths that many of us believe. My favorite: Eat Less, Exercise More. There are so many that it's comical. As I see them, I'll dispel 'em!

If you've seen one on the Net, let me know. I will dispel it!
