About an hour before the eating frenzy, eat a protein bar. My favorite is Pure Protein. It comes in many different flavors.

Or instead of something processed and manufactured, just eat real food that is high in protein. Maybe have a big serving (3/4 cup) of Greek yogurt and mix in some berries and nuts.
