Here we go again: The "study of the day". This article states: A sweeping review of shifts in the labor force since 1960 suggests that a sizable portion of the national weight gain can be explained by declining physical activity during the workday.

Here's the thing: Of course, we're less active in the workplace. Most, not all, people sit in front of a computer for much of the day. We need a study to tell us the obvious?

We've known this for a long time. That's why there have been tips like  this: Use the stairs, park far away from the office, get up during the day and move.

Here's the article in the New York Times.

Here's my prediction: Studies like this will be used to sell workstation treadmills.

This cartoon illustrates Pollan's  first observation. Unfortunately, most of us are not eating real food. We're consuming processed junk that's designed to get us addicted.

On average, we're consuming twice as much sugar as recommended. Our bodies require sugar. However, over time and in large quantities sugar is toxic. This chart from the CDC provides the stats.

If you're drinking just one can of soda per day (10 teaspoons of sugar), this is the amount of sugar you are consuming annually.

I've done a tremendous amount of research in the area of diet, health, and lifestyle. I've viewed hundreds of videos detailing disease and prevention. While all the ones I recommend have been very informative, this one might be the best.

In almost layman terms, this doctor explains what most people do not know about coronary heart disease. Here's the one hour video.

One note: The last 30 minutes is a discussion of "the power of statins" and the benefits of them. While I would never tell anyone not to take them (that's between you and your doctor), it is my goal to do prevention. Thus, as  my domain name states: LifeWithoutLipitor.com is my personal goal.

Thank you to Happy Healthy Long Life blogger for bringing this video to my attention.

Thank you SNL ... The American food system can be funny ...

The New York Times has an excellent article about food labeling and marketing of food. Check it out.

I documented fourteen days of eating and exercise. Most diet, health, and lifestyle advocates do not document what they eat. This type of lifestyle keeps my health and weight at an opt

I give them a 10 for honesty and a 0 for quality of food for a healthy diet.

If the diet, health, and lifestyle advocates were this creative, maybe, just maybe, people might change their eating habits. What I mean by that is creating creative PSAs. Mrs. Obama are you listening?

Since no one seems to be doing this, I have discussed this with my video director. To date, we have not made one.
