The latest nutrition guidelines released Monday by the federal government reiterate much of the advice from previous years: eat less salt and saturated fats, eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grains.
But there is a startling difference. This time, the government suggests that Americans also just eat less.
Of course, if you have my book or follow my blog postings, you know that I say Eat More. The people who are in full control of their healthy eating habits know they can eat more.
I practice what I preach. If you followed me around for a day (a pretty boring endeavor), you would see that I eat three main meals and snack as often as I want.
My eating philosophy is:
- Never be hungry - if you're hungry, eat
- Eat tasty and delicious foods - no, not Snickers, Snackwells, and Skittles (to name a few)
